Thanking Our Troops

I have been trying to let our troops know that I appreciate the jobs they do. I do this by thanking each one that I see in uniform. I just walk up to them and say, "Just wanted to say thank you for your service." it is always met with a smile from them.

Today I was at the airport to pick up my grandson and there was a large number of our military there. I did my thing and thanked them. Then I discovered that there was a group coming home. There were signs, friends and families waiting to greet them.

I met one of the young wives, that was me so many years ago in another time and place. Her and her son where waiting for Daddy to come home. The little guy was barely crawling when his Daddy left and how was walking quite well. It made me think about all the things his Daddy had missed in his little life.

It was a great reminder why we all need to thank our service men and women everytime we see one of them. They are missing out on their family's lives while protecting all our families.
